Language Beyond Borders student, Ahmad Al Khani and his mother have landed in Canada!
Ahmad was one of our first students and has been studying with Language Beyond Borders since we began our activity! His teachers were Joy Claridge and Elizabeth Park, and his Class Coordinator was Alexandra Butnaru. The team worked alongside Ahmad’s sponsors, Community Matters Toronto, and especially Stephen Watt, who supported Ahmad and his mother for 2 long years before their arrival in Canada, and who continue to do so still.
Ahmad has worked hard to improve his English and it will most certainly serve him well during this initial period of his life in Canada and make adjusting to life in an English-speaking country much less stressful. Many of our students are still in Ahmad’s previous situation, waiting in third countries to be resettled in Canada either through the community sponshorship programme, which allows regular Canadian citizens to sponsor refugees to come to Canada. English language ability is vital for them to be able to make a good start in their new countries. Thanks and congratulations to everyone involved. Picture credits: @Hand-to-Hand Supporting Newcomers
